Favorite Friday Night Race
Corporate Challenge. I love it when the fans come out and ride, when all the local companies get on the track and whoop it up.
Globetrotting
I got to race the Revolution Race series in Melbourne, Australia in 2007. The infield was set up like a disco-slash-cocktail bar and the fans were buzzed! Everyone had fun. It was awesome.

Your Greatest Accomplishment on a Bike
I have a few: riding across the United States, winning an Elite National title, setting an age group World Record and learning to believe in myself.
Warm-up Music
It’s top secret.
Best Advice to People Who Want to Try Track Racing
Stop thinking about it and do it! It’s just like riding a bike.
How did you get started on The Track?
I started working for Rodale Press in1992. In the mid-90’s, Bicycling magazine sponsored classes for employees in the mornings before work, so I signed up. I liked it enough to try an Air Products class; then like that enough to join Bob Biese’s Vortex Cycling Club, where I met a fearless girl named Daphne who taught me how to race.
Strengths
I’m a pure sprinter with time trial sensibilities: I like precision and always strive for improvement. That makes me good at events like the Team Sprint and 500m time trial. In head to head racing, I like the Chariot race or Match Sprint.
Favorite Post Ride/Race Meal
A tall glass of Coke with lots of ice and big, juicy burger at Red Robin! Side salad, of course.
Off Season Training
I do my off-the-bike training in the weight room and jump rope like a boxer. I’ve been a Champion member at 24-7 Fitness since 2005! For a mental break I swim, do yoga or hit the trail with my dog Bruno.
