Get in on the action! One of the most-exciting events for us to host each season is the Rodale Corporate Challenge. The August 17 race date is coming up soon. There’s still time to get your company in on the action, so contact Bob Blaisdell at bob@thevelodrome.com to register.

This unique event offers your company a terrific team-building opportunity, the chance to put your corporate logo in front of at least 2,000 Friday night fans, an introduction to velodrome racing for new racers or a welcome return for our veterans and on top of all this, it’s just plain fun!

The Rodale Corporate Challenge pits up to 16 teams together in a round-robin elimination throughout the evening as teams compete in the Italian Pursuit and scratch races. Each six-person team includes at least two women and up to four men.

The Italian Pursuit format features two teams lined up on opposite sides of the velodrome and they “pursue” each other for six laps. The lead rider of each team drops off after each lap, leaving only the final, or anchor rider for each team, to finish the race against the clock. The best six teams advance to the finals. The remaining, non-qualifying teams may place their top male and female racers in a mass start race during the night for team and company bragging rights. A scratch race is simply a winner-take-all race to the finish.

No prior racing experience needed! The VPCC provides the track bikes, coaching, and training time for each team. Teams train one to two nights per week for four weeks prior to the event.

Want to Get an Edge? We’ve seen how competitive the Corporate Challenge can be, so we’d be remiss if we didn’t also pitch the July 29 Try the Track clinic. This clinic can take your Corporate Challenge training and preparation to another level.

Our professional, certified coaches and racers will introduce recreational and fitness cyclists to the exciting sport of track cycling and welcome them to the Valley Preferred Cycling Center. Learn to ride, train, and even race the track from some of the best racers and coaches to ever come through the gates of the Valley Preferred Cycling Center.

To register for Try the Track, send Bob a note at bob@thevelodrome.com.
